Should I choose a manual or electric recliner chair?
Both manual and electric recliner chairs have their benefits. Manual recliners are simple to use and don’t need to be placed near a plug socket, while electric recliners offer smooth, easy movement at the touch of a button.
The right choice for you will depend on your space and the features you’re looking for.
Choose from fabric or leather recliners
Our recliner chairs are available in both fabric and leather, making it easy to find the right look and feel for your living room. Fabric recliner chairs are soft, cosy and inviting, while leather recliner chairs offer a timeless finish that’s sleek, practical and versatile.
Recliner chairs in a range of colours
Our recliner chairs are available in colours to suit a wide range of interiors. Grey recliner chairs are a versatile choice that works well in both modern and classic living rooms, while brown recliner chairs bring warmth and a more traditional feel to your space.
For a lighter look, beige recliner chairs offer a soft, understated finish, easy to style with different colour schemes. Cream recliner chairs are another timeless option, helping to create a bright, calm and inviting feel in your living room.
Riser recliner chairs
If you find it difficult to sit down or stand up from a standard armchair, a riser recliner chair could be a practical choice. Using a smooth lifting mechanism, it helps guide you into a more upright position, making everyday movement feel easier and more supported.
Riser recliners are a good option for anyone who wants a little extra help getting in and out of their seat, including older adults, people with reduced mobility, or those recovering from illness or surgery. As well as making movement easier, they offer the same comfort as a recliner chair, with supportive seating and adjustable positions for relaxing throughout the day.
Will a recliner chair fit in my living room?
Recliner chairs can work well in most living rooms, but it’s important to allow for the extra space needed when the chair is fully extended. As a guide:
- Upright length: Many recliners are around 90–99cm deep when they’re fully upright.
- Fully reclined length: This can increase to around 152–165cm once the chair is fully extended, including the headrest and footrest.
- Chair width: Most recliner chairs often need 96–1142cm of width.
- Wall clearance: As a rule, you should allow around 13–25cm behind the chair so it can recline fully, although wall-hugger designs can need much less.
You can check the dimensions on each individual product page and make sure there’s enough room around the chair for the backrest and footrest to extend comfortably. If you know how much room you have available, you can also filter by size. It’s also worth measuring nearby furniture and access routes, such as doorways and walkways before ordering.
Can I sleep in a recliner chair?
Our recliner chairs are great for putting your feet up and enjoying a quick nap, but we wouldn’t recommend using one instead of a bed.
